I think I have gotten the best deal ever, when it comes to webhosting. ;p

I get...
1GB Space
30GB Bandwidth
CPanel
Unlimited Add-on Domains.
Unlimited Parked Domains.
Unlimited Subdomains.
Unlimited FTP accounts.
Unlimited MySQL Databases.
Unlimited Email POP3/Forwarders/Autoresponders/etc.
And basically unlimited everything else.

All this for only $5.40 a month. I think that is a good deal. :)

Rack as in rack space as in for rackmount servers.

For noobs, you can use control panels. I go straight into the .conf files myself. ;)

You won't be able to do that unless you own your own server though, or have a dedicated server.

It's okay. When I first started my website, I didn't get a Control Panel at all, lol. I had to email my host to do stuff like that.

Times have changed.

Usually on a "NETWORK" page they tell you who their backbone(s) are... funny.

Looks like these guys use NAC.net/ATT. (Not bad.)

Well, I had him on my ICQ... turns out I got my first co-located server there and he fucked me over. Well, he didn't, his partner did.

Long story, lol.

Haha. That cant be good.

But what do you have now?

I assume a dedicated? How much space and all that..?

Hell no.

I own two 1U rackmount servers.

I've already gone through two, so these would be my third and fourth.

Right now my machines consist of:

Web Server:
Dual 1 GHz Intel P3 w/ 512kb cache
1 GB ram
Dual 40 gb 7,200 rpm hard drives
OS: FreeBSD

Chat Server:
1.6 GHz Intel P4 w/ 512kb cache
1 GB ram
80 gb 7,200 rpm hard drive
OS: Windows 2000 Server w/ 25 CAL

I could get more descriptive, but I'm too tired.

Anyway, my partner, Mike, has basically the same setup. I think one of his boxes has SCSI hard drives, though. They are MUCH faster.

We're co-located at Defender Hosting. I would never do dedicated server hosting. I have always hated it. We're currently using 3 mbps of bandwidth per second.

How much that cost you?

kerplunk

That's a silly question.

When I first bought the servers, each costed me about $1700. They probably are only worth about $1000 now.

Rackmount servers are expensive.

No comment on hosting price.
