Buy a laptop? I saw one for just barely over 1000$, $42/month.
If you think I should, what type? Paste me a link to a Canadian pricing page with a pic/stats and all that stuff.

what you do is get an extreme desktop, and if you can a cheap laptop.
because a desktop is easier to upgrade, generally cheaper, and has better hardware available to it.
laptops are generally more expensive, harder to upgrade, and have selective hardware.
because when you're "out and about" you usually won't be spending much time doing the more computer-demanding things (i.e. play games, do excessive amounts of multitasking). you're usually just on to check email and maybe say a few words to a couple online contacts.

at least thats what i did. i guess its whatever you want.

Get an LCD monitor and you're good. ;-)
