for me, probably "signs" or "john carpenter's 'the thing' ".

the ring was just outright helariously stupid, i couldnt even sit through more than 45 minutes of it. how can that be scary?

when i look for a scary movie, i dont look for a gorey movie. gore just disgusts people. "you dont create fear with gore, you create disgust. those are to completely different emotions" just to quote the famouse director james cameron (Titanic, Aliens, Terminator 1 and 2)

For me probably "signs" or "the ring." I don't think I slept at all the night after I watched either of those.
