I'm going fucking mad. I can't take it anymore, how in all hell do I get rid of pop ups? I went from Internet Explorer to Msn Explorer and every page I go to there's a pop up in Internet Explorer that opens. Someone help me before I go mad.

I have Stop the Pop (first one Mad Eyes mentioned) on my computer, I only turn it on when I'm surfing. One of the newest seems to be "pop-unders" which you don't know are there until you close all of your IE windows.

I've seen on a couple of sites a tiny pop under that is blank but it's has a tracking pixel on it. I don't know exactly how it works, but the big site uses them to see where your going on there sites. If you keep the window open (sometimes they hide them) they can see what sites your going to.

At any rate, I couldn't find get to the website Mad Eyes listed so if you would like I can e-mail you the zip file it's a little over a megabyte.

Everytime I go on NeonTeen Mail, I get a pop-up that tells me to download a pop-up killer. Oooh, the irony. Maybe you should try to get that one.

One of the best pop-up killers I have seen is from AOL. It is intergrated in the AOL Browser. It stops 100% of the pop-ups. Except for on sites you exclude, and on secure sites.

LOL, I've gotten the same one on other sites, from the marketing angle it makes sense. This pop up annoys you so buy our stopper. I say why pay for something when it's free.

The nice thing about Stop the Pop Up is you can disable it by using a key I think it's A, Shift, and Control all seperately Lots of time I open things in New Windows so I just use the shift key to let the window open.

I have Smart Popup Killer 1.20 which I downloaded for free at download.com. It works really well. I don't get popups anymore and it was free. w00t! You can turn it on and off, adjust the settings, etc. It's pretty sweet.

party_boy u r a tight little arsehole arnt ya?

obviously i noe that popup's purpose is for advertising nah dah dude... y do u think i will be studying a freaken commerce/law degree for dope.... but with so many of them annoy the living day lights out of people wat do they ACHIEVE???

would people actually respond to annoying popups about getting laid a million times ova the next 4 years? i close ALL of my pop ups... i do not click on to them and go and "claim my prizes".....

wat do companies ACHIEVE by paying god noes how much to have these annoying popups in our faces?? Its more of a nusiance for consumers more than nything.....

if ur such a marketing geneous y not u tell me?

Mr. Magill
06-16-2003, 10:34 AM
well you think about it. Just because YOU close them all doesnt mean everyone does. It is intrusive advertising, but it is effective advertising. Lets say you were looking for a cheap holiday, and a cheap holiday pop-up appeared you would think hhhmmm ill check that out. Thats how it works. Sure it wont work most of the time, but the money they make from the times it does work would be substantial enough for them to keep using pop-up advertising techniques. And i aint an uptight arsehole, you just started off on my badside due to the thread in romance. And finally, how the FUCK are you doing a commerce/law degree when you have easily the worst spelling i have ever seen.................

and dude when you said "if ur such a marketing geneous y not u tell me?" i laughed my fucking ass off. how many mistakes can you make in one sentence?
