Anyone know of any good ones? I have A LOT... I may share my secrets. :)
POST POST POST!
Nooo, I don't know any.
But you're a smarter computer cookie than I am.
Share?

I wouldn't even know where to start.
The best tweak I have for ANYONE would be:
Start > Run > Type in "regedit" without the quotes.
Then go to the startup items and uncheck all of them.
*Just asked Jon what that does.*

Windows XP :accident: LOL
Here is a list of startup "services" that you can disable. Once I disabled all the junk, my computer runs a lot faster.

I've been there.
It fucks up your computer. Don't do any of that. All I had were problems and problems after I went there.
Seriously, though.

Thanks Plunk....I had a bad crash a while back and didn't change the services around yet... Maybe that's why I had the crash:confused:

OK, it wasn't that exact site.
I still highly suggest not messing with services unless you understand what you are doing, though.

well, for one you could put your pagefile on its own seperate partition, and make sure your total paging file is about exactly 2.5x your RAM.
if you make that partition small(just slightly larger than the pagefile itself), it will access faster than it would running the pagefile on your boot partition.
it would also be good to have a program that defrags your actual registry and system files(the very core files that can never normally get defragged). a program i suggest is Sysinternals Pagedefrag (http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/pagedefrag.shtml) and works rather well.
there a numerous amounts of tools out there to optimize settings, mostly just to make the registry settings more accessible. one i use is SpeedXP, there's also Xteq X-Setup. both i believe are free and very useful.
