It's going to suck. Interesting premise, but I doubt they'll have a plot to hold it together.

Though some of the shots look sweet- particulary walking on the snow eyelevel with the Statue of liberty.

i'll probally see it something about horrible disaster movies they are usally mildly entertaining as long as you suspend ANY SPECK OF REALITY. I was reading on CNN i think where a bunch of scientists said that the movie was "Bad Science" because everything that happended in the movie would actually take like 10,000 years to occur and not one storm, but it also said they enjoyed it because it was fun. so that makes me curious

I think the movie will be quite good actually.

And, just to make things a little scarier; I'll quote this from my Day After Tomorrow Thread.

This will be a good movie for one reason that the Core really fell apart on.

The Day After Tomorrow is based on scientific fact.

In fact the film should be based on the book "The comming global super storm" which is a hypothetical situation that takes into account the general consensus of Climatologists.

To understand the movie you'll have to understand the argument, there are two...and the one with the happy ending is not very strongly accepted. I'll try to explain it in a nut-shell.

As you should know the Oceans are a vast heat-sink. Well the argument is, what controls the earth's atmospheric temperature more, the Oceans or the winds? A few guys argue the winds...this is because someone has to say, "Surely the latter is not possible!"

This is because in 1995 a panel of Climatologists told the world in a report to the UN, what will probably happen as a result of "Global Warming".

It shattered all former views...the riddle was pretty much solved.

The Ice Age that ended some 15,000 years ago is about 6,000-4,000 years over-due. (For the next cycle).

It is believed now that these Ice Ages are not centuries of accumulated snow...but just one year...here's the basic mechanics of it.

Remember that the Oceans are a vast heat-sink...well all that heat goes somewhere.

This is what creates a Convection Current...you may have heard of the one in question it is called the Gulf Stream.

It is why England and Nova Scotia are at the same latitudes, but England is warm, and Nova Scotia is rarely above zero celcius.

The Gulf Stream being a convection current, has a flaw...salenity.

The concentration of minerals known as Sea-Salt in the water...normally the salenity doesn't change much. Well in periods of global warming guess what? A lot of Ice melts.

That's a lot of fresh water hitting the Gulf Stream right in northern Europe.

The Climatologists confirmed that if the Global Warming trend continued, there is a great possibility that the Gulf Stream will be interrupted, the results are catastrophic either way.

If it occurs in the summer, we're fuked and you can kiss Human Civilization goodbye as an Ice Sheet 4 miles thick covers an area extending as far south as Sicily in a matter of a few years.

If it occurs in winter we'll be spared a little...the "Global Super Storm" scenario.

What happens is that there is a massive shift in atmosperic energy...because without the warmth brought to the north by the Gulf Stream, the north would become EXTREMELY cold. The result is a balancing out of the thermal energies in the atmosphere...a massive storm.

This willd dump a crap load of snow all over the northern hemisphere, if it occurs in winter it means that chances are summer will be long enough that most of the snow will be melted and the temperature of the northern hemisphere will be restored over a few years. So we have some devestating winters that whipes out most of norther civilization above Texas...but it goes away.

If it occurs in the summer the winter will be so long that it will not end for 10,000 years.

That is the only scenario bantered around now...the atmospheric arguements don't really take any merit...they just can't prove that it is atmospheric conditions that seperate northern europe from nova scotia.

Recently scientists have been able to trace this periodic Ice Age creations back to when they first began...when the Pacific was cut off from the Atlantic by the Panamanian connection between North and South America.

So I'm really looking forward to "The Day After Tomorrow" as unlike "The Core" or such disaster movies...this movie is straight from the report given to the UN by the general consensus of a large number of climatologists.

And since 1995 the evidence that this is how Ice Ages begin have grown...

Case-in-point...Wooly Mammoths. A number of Wooly Mammoths have been discovered with butter-cups still intact in their stomachs...butter-cups are a very delicate flower that digests quickly...which means that these Wooly Mammoths were frozen stiff like the "Ice-Man" in a very short time period.

So when you watch "The Day After Tomorrow"...just remember, this could happen any time a large enough amount of fresh water is dumped into the northern atlantic due to ice melting.

Anyways, in short, you should expect this to be pants-shitting...if you don't I simply haven't presented the evidence well enough. But it is certainly worth your looking into, just research the Ice Ages and you'll quickly find out that it is thought to be dependent on the Gulf Stream and that it is thought to happen in one year, not over the course of centuries of cooling.

Not sure if that's all completely 100 percent probable, but you know......its kinda freaky to listen to.

Yeah, but it depends on how they present it. If it's a load of crappy cgi-look-itz-kewl effects, it will kill it.

Furthermore, I don't really care about the storm. The storm should probably be a tool to bring about/ effect the plot. I don't want to see 2 hours of a storm. If I want that, I'll watch the weather channel.

Ever wonder if there is no such thing as global warming? Rather the earth is still just cooling down from the ice age?

it might be good. i saw this 10 minute preview on FOX about an hour ago, and it looked alright. Not enough to give me nightmares, haha.
