white stars flee as a blue jewel
gives birth to a blazing sun.
crisp salt air fills my lungs
as millions of sand grains hug my toes.
warm sweet coffee opens my eyes
as azure waves create the calming rhythm of rushing water.
barnacled wooden boats float in the bay.
a gray fog burns off to reveal the distant horizon.
golden reeds whisper of the secrets of last night and
past footprints lead everywhere and no where at once.
deep-rooted kindling serves as a fence to guide me
off the sandy beach to my awaiting, rusty, red car.
and i glance back to notice my own footprints.
left in the ever shifting sand.
and i see that my mark has been laid,
and i have changed this beautiful place forever.

Hmmm I really liked it..all the detailed descriptions really added to the poem. I love how someone can take a short frame of time that's so simple and make it into something spectacular through a poem. But the word "barnacled" made me think of Spongebob. lol Don't ask. Anyways really really good poem ;)

haha. it made me too! but i thought it was a good discriptive word. when i think of barnicle i think of ships so it was natural to put it in there. thanks for reading and posting

i love this. It totally paints a picture. and actually, it reminds me of when I stayed on lake superior a couple summer's ago. I woke up early and watched the sunrise on the beach all by myself, and it was soo beautiful...this made me remember that morning. Nicely done.

once again, you've outdone yourself.

i love the line about the footprints 'leading everywhere and nowhere at once'... it sounds a little fleeting - but i caught it; and understand fully.

i really love this, and it reminds me of places i've been and people i've known...

I liked the New age one, or was that your signature?
Either way it was definitly a good piece, the other one was hard for me to follow and somethime all the description didnt suit the piece.
